Lanka eNews Editor Sandaruwan Senadheera Released on Bail by Gampaha Magistrate
The editor of the controversial Sri Lankan news website Lanka eNews, journalist Sandaruwan Senadheera, has been ordered to be released on bail by the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court.
Senadheera, who was arrested by the Katunayake Police yesterday (11), was produced before the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court today (12), where the court issued the order granting him bail.
According to court records, the arrest was carried out on the basis of an outstanding warrant issued through international police channels on 25 November 2016 by Gampaha Chief Magistrate Kavindya Nanayakkara.
The warrant had remained active for several years, and the police acted upon it when Senadheera was taken into custody and subsequently presented before the court.
Further proceedings in the case are expected to continue under the jurisdiction of the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court.
