Renowned Indian spiritual leader Swami Kailasananda Giri Ji Maharaj met with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, yesterday (23).

Swami Kailasananda Giri Ji Maharaj, the Chief Mahamandaleshwar of the Shri Panch Agni Akhada in Ayodhya, India, is currently in Sri Lanka on a five-day visit. A prominent spiritual figure associated with the Maha Kumbh Mela festival, he arrived in the country yesterday morning accompanied by a 14-member delegation comprising both lay and ordained representatives.

During their stay in Sri Lanka, the delegation is scheduled to visit several historically and religiously significant sites in areas including Nuwara Eliya, Jaffna, and Trincomalee, among other locations.

Minister Vijitha Herath stated that the visit reflects the strong spiritual and cultural ties between the two countries, which are rooted in shared religious heritage and civilizational connections. He noted that such visits contribute to strengthening people-to-people relations and promote religious and cultural tourism between India and Sri Lanka.

The Minister further emphasized that the visit presents an opportunity to reinforce longstanding Indo–Sri Lankan cultural relations, particularly by promoting Sri Lanka as a spiritual and heritage-based tourism destination among Indian devotees.
