Indictment Against Ranil Wickremesinghe to Be Filed in March – Saman Ekanayake Remanded
The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (28) ordered that Saman Ekanayake, former Secretary to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was produced before court as a suspect in the case pertaining to the former President, be remanded until 11 February.
The order was made following Ekanayake’s appearance before court this afternoon (28) in connection with the ongoing investigation relating to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s visit to London.
Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe also appeared before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today in relation to the same matter, which has been instituted under the Public Property Act.
The Attorney General informed court that investigations relating to Ranil Wickremesinghe would be concluded within one month, and that indictments would be filed in March.
This submission was made on behalf of the Attorney General by Additional Solicitor General Dileep Peiris when the case was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Neththikumara today.
