Sharing China’s economic achievements with all countries of the world is one of the most important messages conveyed by the Chinese President to the international community.

According to Dullas Alahapperuma, Leader of the Freedom People’s Assembly, China’s planned actions in 2025 to safeguard global balance have been highly successful, creating a positive foundation to discuss China’s development plan for 2026 with confidence.

Following the establishment of the New China, the first Five-Year Plan launched in 1953 under the leadership of Chairman Mao Zedong has now progressed successfully to its 15th phase under the leadership of the current Chinese President, Xi Jinping. According to reports presented at the economic working sessions relating to the year 2026 under this programme, key decisions have been taken to build a strong domestic market, promote innovation centred on artificial intelligence, balance development between urban and rural areas, and advance green transformation while achieving the dual carbon goals.

China’s vision for the 15th Five-Year Plan should be articulated after assessing how effectively the responsibilities planned for 2025 were implemented. The measures planned by China in 2025 to preserve global balance have proven to be extremely successful. Therefore, discussions on the 2026 development plan can be approached positively. It is particularly commendable that the core focus of the plans targeting 2026—the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan—emphasises qualitative growth rather than merely quantitative expansion.

Over the years, the People’s Republic of China has faced two major challenges within its planning framework. The first is the very serious challenge posed by an ageing population. The second equally significant challenge is the control of environmental pollution. To manage the parallel rise in environmental degradation that accompanies large-scale development, China has implemented special programmes. It can be expected that, through the promotion of green energy and the strengthening of environmental protection, China—having accepted these as major challenges—will implement appropriate measures within the 2026 plan.

Dullas Alahapperuma stated that President Xi Jinping’s message of sharing China’s economic successes with all nations of the world is of profound importance. It can be expected that the Chinese government, under the leadership of the President, will provide guidance, precedents, lessons, and practical experiences to help Sri Lankans overcome the crises they have faced and achieve successful future economic development. The economic development measures planned for 2026 are expected to become a practical and effective model not only for the Chinese people and the Chinese state, but also for the whole of Asia and the wider world. He further expressed his best wishes for the success of the entire 15th Five-Year Plan on behalf of the Freedom People’s Assembly
